At the time of his induction, Davies held the Towson career records for games played (217), runs scored (195), base hits (274), doubles (66), triples (18) and RBI (193). He ranked second all-time at Towson in home runs (40) and walks (117), and sat third in career batting average (.363).

Davies was a second team Capital One Academic All-America selection in 2002 and was a first team All-CAA selection in Towson's first season in the conference. As a senior in 2002, he batted .428 and earned American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) honorable mention notice.

In 2001, Davies batted .399 with 15 home runs and a school-record 74 RBI en route to being named a third team Louisville Slugger All-American. He also had 87 hits, setting a school-record that was eventually broken by Gary Helmick. That year, Davies led the Tigers to 37 wins (current school record).

In 2001, Towson's final season in the America East, Davies was the AE Player of the Year, the AE Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the winner of the AE Tournament Most Outstanding Player award. He was the first player from the non-winning team to be named as the AE Tournament Most Outstanding Player award winner.

A four-year starter at first base and centerfield, Davies was the winner of the Hall of Fame's Doc Minnegan Award in 2001 and earned an NCAA post-graduate scholarship.

Davies was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 21st round of the 2002 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft. From 2002-2004, Davies played at the minor league level for Aberdeen, Delmarva and Frederick. Over three seasons, he played 138 games and compiled 97 hits, 46 RBI and 42 runs scores.
