Hall of Fame
A key member of some of Towson's earliest men's soccer teams and a player-coach in 1947, Jack Hart '48 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1970.
An all-star even before playing collegiately at Towson – then State Teachers College – Hart played for City College’s championship team as a senior in high school and won a spot on the Maryland Scholastic League all-star team. His education was interrupted by service in the Army during World War II. Hart spent six years in the military, rising to the rank of captain.
He earned a spot on the All-Southern Soccer team his junior season before receiving a place on the Southern District Olympic Soccer Team and a chance to try out for the US Olympic soccer team as a senior. His final season at Towson, Hart served as a player-coach (halfback). The 1947 team was Towson’s first men’s soccer team fielded in six years.
