The winningest women’s lacrosse coach in Towson history, Dr. Margaret Faulkner was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1997.

As the Tigers’ coach from 1970-85, she compiled a 105-70-5 record. Highlighting her tenure was a second-place finish in the USWLA national championship tournament in 1980. The Tigers finished as national runner-up to Lafayette.

During her years as the Tiger coach, Towson had 10 winning seasons. A member of the faculty at Towson starting in 1970, she served as the associate dean for the College of Liberal Arts. She was inducted into the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the Lacrosse Foundation and Hall of Fame in 1997 as well. Dr. Faulkner was the first chair for the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Committee from 1981-87.

A 1968 graduate of West Chester University, she also coached field hockey at Towson for five years. She was a three-sport standout for the Rams as a member of the field hockey, gymnastics and women’s lacrosse teams. A member of the US Field Hockey team in 1969, she was also a member of the US Women’s Lacrosse team. She has served as a collegiate referee in field hockey and women’s lacrosse for many years. Dr. Faulkner also served on the board of directors for the Maryland Special Olympics.
