A four-year letter winner for the Tiger football team, Skip Chase '77 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1990.

Chase was one of Towson’s first All-American football players. A talented tight end with great hands, he finished his career as the Tigers’ second-leading pass receiver.

An all-state tight end for three consecutive years, he caught 93 passes for 1451 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career. In 1976, he was named first team All-American by Kodak and made second team All-American by the Associated Press.

In his senior year, he helped the Tigers compile a 10-3 record and go to the Stagg Bowl, the NCAA Division III championship game.

He was the team’s leading receiver in 1976 with 32 catches for 457 yards and one TD. In the Tigers’ three post-season games, he caught 11 passes for 171 yards and scored two touchdowns.

After graduation, he had free agent tryouts with the Baltimore Colts in 1977 and the Los Angeles Rams in 1978. He played one year for Winnipeg in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He also worked as a field engineer for W.M. Schlosser Company.
