Hall of Fame
One of the best defensive players in Towson football history, Jeff Boller '83 was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996.
He was a four-year starter and two-year co-captain for the Tigers. Boller finished his career with 382 tackles, a Towson record that still stands.
A native of Baltimore and a graduate of Kenwood High School, Boller helped the Tigers to a 9-1 record as a freshman, making 71 tackles. As a sophomore, he set a single-season school record with 115 tackles, earning All-ECAC honors. He was also named honorable mention All-American after helping the Tigers post a 5-5 record. In 1981, he missed three games with a knee injury but still managed to make 69 tackles and recover two fumbles.
As a senior in 1982, Boller set the school career tackle record and broke his own school record for single-season tackles. He made 127 tackles and intercepted two passes to help the Tigers compile a 7-4 record that included a 22-18 win at Bucknell and a 35-32 win over Maine. In the victory over Maine, Boller had a career-high 18 tackles and earned ECAC Division II Defensive Player of the Week honors. He was named as Towson’s Defensive Player of the Year twice.
A long-time member of the Baltimore County police force, he earned commendation awards in 1988 and 1990. He was also named Officer of the Month in his precinct twice in 1995. He also served as an assistant football coach at Eastern Tech High School.
