Hall of Fame
A 1970 graduate of Towson, Jim Garland was a four-year standout in soccer and baseball. He was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1985.
A two-time selection to the All-Mason-Dixon Conference all-star soccer team, he was the recipient of the Tiger soccer team’s Outstanding Player Award in 1968.
He was also named All-Mason-Dixon in 1969 and 1970 and earned All-Maryland honors three times in his baseball career. Garland received Towson’s Outstanding Athlete of the Year award in 1970.
He earned his master’s degree in education and worked in the Harford County school system, coaching soccer, basketball and baseball and serving as a mentor to numerous student teachers.
