A stellar scholar-athlete, Cindy Phillips '85 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1995.

She finished her career at Towson as the program’s leading scorer, with 1,207 career points. She earned All-East Coast Conference (ECC) honors three years in a row, making second team as a sophomore and junior and first team notice as a senior.

The Dallastown, Pa., native, who attended American University as a freshman, led the Tigers to the ECC championship in 1984. Phillips was honored as the ECC Tournament Most Valuable Player after hitting the game-winning free throws with 10 seconds left in the title game win over Delaware. The Tigers were 19-8 that championship season.

In her junior year, she averaged a team-high 15.4 points per game while finishing 16th nationally with an .826 free throw percentage. In the ECC Tournament, Phillips averaged 20.7 points per game and made 30-of-35 free throw attempts.

As a senior, she won the ECC Scholar-Athlete award and averaged 14.5 ppg. She was named all-district in voting for academic All-America honors. Phillips was named as Towson’s Female Athlete of the Year twice.
