The all-time leading scorer in Towson lacrosse history, Glenn Smith '91 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 2001.
He was a four-year starter on attack for the Tigers. A three-time All-American, he was named honorable mention twice before earning third team All-America honors as a senior.
The Tigers’ top scorer as a freshman, sophomore and senior, he finished his career with 154 goals. He shattered the school record for career goals, beating the old mark by 48. He also had 54 assists in his career and had a total of 209 points, second on Towson’s all-time list.
A two-time selection as All-East Coast Conference (ECC), Glenn set a school record by scoring 46 goals as a freshman. He was the third-leading goal scorer in Division I in his freshman year.
As a sophomore, he had 33 goals and the biggest was the game winner in the second overtime period of Towson’s 9-8 win over then-No. 1 Johns Hopkins, a victory that earned the Tigers their first trip to the NCAA Division I Tournament.
In his junior season, he had 31 goals and 12 assists while leading Towson to an 11-2 record and the ECC Championship.
As a senior, he led the Tigers with 44 goals helping the team return to the NCAA Tournament. Smith was the Tigers’ leading scorer in their NCAA Tournament run, which led to the national championship game.
In four NCAA Tournament games, he had 13 goals and three assists. After the Tigers beat Virginia and Princeton to reach the Final Four at Syracuse, Smith scored a game-high four goals in Towson’s 15-11 win over Maryland. Towson finished as NCAA runner-up, losing to North Carolina in the championship game, 18-13. He had three goals and two assists in the finals.
Honored as Towson’s Senior Male Athlete of the Year, he was also selected to play in the North-South all-star game in 1991.
A Baltimore native who graduated from Boys Latin, Smith graduated from Towson with a degree in mass communication. He spent eight years as the color analyst for Tiger lacrosse on the radio.
