A three-sport performer at Towson, John Lowe '51 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1989.

He wrestled and played soccer for four years as well as playing one season of baseball. Lowe found a great deal of success in the community after graduation.

He taught and coached in Baltimore County for more than 30 years and introduced wrestling as a varsity sport there in 1957. He also started the first wrestling program in the Baltimore County Recreation Council. Lowe coached county teams to more than 200 wins during his career and won eight county championships.

He taught physical education, math and science. He was elected to the Maryland State Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1986 as well as the Baltimore County Hall of Fame. Lowe served as a member of the National Wrestling Association for 25 years and won the 1971 Maryland Wrestling Award.
