Hall of Fame
A three-sport athlete who was a member of the Tiger soccer, basketball and track teams, Jim Myers '67/'73 was inducted into the Towson Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004.
He was named as an All-Mason-Dixon Conference soccer player four years in a row. A key performer for the Tigers’ 1966 Mason-Dixon Conference championship team, he was named to the All-South team as a sophomore, junior and senior. During his final three seasons with the Tigers, he helped Towson post an impressive 26-5-0 record. As a senior, he was honored as Towson’s Athlete of the Year.
After graduating from Towson, Jim spent 30 years as a physical education teacher at Mt. Airy Middle School. He retired in 1997. One of his most noteworthy achievements was the development of a Recreation League soccer program in Carroll County. He served as league president for nine years, treasurer for four years and supervisor for five years. He also organized the Mt. Airy soccer program in 1971 and administered it through 1985.
In addition, Jim coached boys and girls soccer teams from 1971 to 1997. He also coached Babe Ruth and Little League baseball teams for 20 years. From 1970 to 1998, he served as a high school soccer official.
In 1981 and 1992, he was honored as the Mt. Airy Recreation Council Volunteer of the Year. He was also awarded as the Volunteer of the Year at St. Michael’s Church in 1993.
