Hall of Fame
A three-year starter at midfield for the Tiger lacrosse team, Joe Ferrante '75 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1983.
Ferrante was one of the top face-off men in the country during his collegiate career. A native of Deer Park, N.H., he keyed the Tiger drive to the 1974 national championship. In the title game against Hobart College, he won several key face-offs in the late going to spark the Tigers to their 18-17, come-from-behind victory over the Statesmen.
A physical education major who was also a member of Alpha Omega Lamda fraternity, Ferrante was the Tigers’ team captain as a senior in 1975. He passed away after contracting leukemia in 1979, and his memory is kept alive by the Joseph Ferrante scholarship, given annually to a Towson junior lacrosse player.
