The first Towson player to dig out more than 500 faceoffs in his career, Justin Berry was a key component of the Tigers’ amazing turnaround in 2001 that led to a spot in the NCAA Division I National Semifinals.

Berry finished his undergraduate career with numerous records that remained intact through his Hall of Fame induction. His 507 career faceoff wins stayed on top along with his single season record of 257 faceoff wins and single game record of 25 successful draws against Loyola in 2001. That same year he picked up a single season record 147 ground balls. He completed his career with 253 ground balls.

In 2000 the Tigers struggled through a 3-10 season. The following year, led by Berry’s play as a faceoff specialist, Towson recorded the greatest turnaround in NCAA lacrosse history, going 10-4 and reaching the NCAA tournament semifinals where they dropped a 12-11 decision to eventual national champion Princeton. Included in that 10-4 record was an America East conference championship and a number six final national ranking. Berry, who served as a team captain in his senior year, was named honorable mention All-American and second team All-America East. He was one of three Tigers selected to the conference’s All-Tournament team. Inside Lacrosse magazine named him the best faceoff man in college lacrosse that year also.

Later, Berry played in the Major Lacrosse League for the New Jersey Pride and the Los Angeles Riptide.
