Hall of Fame
One of the hitters in Tiger baseball history, Jay Logwood '95 became Towson University’s first All-American in baseball when he was named as a second team selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association in 1992. He was inducted into the Tiger Hall of Fame in 2007.
The second-leading hitter in school history at the time of his graduation, he finished his career with a .365 batting average. He also set Towson career records with 45 home runs and had 145 runs batted in (RBI).
As a junior, the Randallstown, Maryland, native was the fourth-leading hitter in NCAA Division I with a .474 batting average. In 47 games, he had 81 base hits with 54 runs scored, 13 doubles, 17 home runs and 54 runs batted in. Honored as the co-winner of the East Coast Conference Player of the Year award, he was also named all-region. He ranked 13th in the nation in homers and was fourth in slugging percentage with an .883 mark.
In 1993, he was named first team All-Big South Conference when he batted .377 with 17 homers and 55 RBIs. A first team All-ECAC selection, he finished third in the nation in homers as he matched the school record that he set as a junior.
As a senior, he was also named as Towson’s Male Athlete of the Year.
As a sophomore, Logwood helped the Tigers win the ECC championship and earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. He batted .327 with seven homers and 31 RBIs. In the Tigers’ 5-4 win over Rider in the ECC championship game, he hit a clutch homer in the eighth to tie the game, enabling the Tigers to take the lead later in the inning.
The first Tiger baseball player to accumulate 200 hits in his career, Logwood owned the school record with 214 base hits at the time of his graduation. He also owned school records for runs scored (149), homers (45) and RBIs (145).
A 1995 Towson graduate, he earned his degree in art.
