Hall of Fame
A key member of the Tigers’ first NCAA Division I gymnastics teams, Lori Salindong Greis '90 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 2000.
She was the first of Coach Dick Filbert’s former gymnasts to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. A native of Pottstown, Pa., she led the Tigers to four straight ECAC championships and four straight appearances in the NCAA Southeast Regional Meet. In 1988, she helped the Tigers to a third-place finish at the Southeast Regional.
As a senior, she capped off her career by leading the Tigers to the NCAA Division I championship meet at Oregon State. Towson finished ninth in the nation in 1990. Salindong Greis finished her outstanding four-year career with 1,718.30 points and was Towson’s career leading scorer at the time of her graduation.
During her four years, she was named as an All-ECAC selection four times. In 1988, she was the ECAC all-around champion. She also won the ECAC vault title in 1988 and was the ECAC beam champion in 1990. During her career, she set three ECAC records.
During the course of her career, she owned the school records in vault, beam, floor, and all-around. She served as the Tigers team captain as a junior and senior. Honored as Towson’s Female Athlete of the Year in 1988, she was also named Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 1990.
An outstanding student-athlete, she was the winner of the Towson Alumni Association Academic Achievement Award in 1990, an award presented to the most outstanding graduating scholar-athlete. She was also honored as a College Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete award winner as a junior and senior. She graduated with a degree in early childhood education in 1990.
Since graduation, she has been working extensively with students with special needs. After three years as a first grade teacher, she was a pre-school director in Germany for one year. She also spent three years as an early interventionist, working with special needs children who are three years old or younger.
She started a pre-school that integrates special needs children in Tennessee. She currently serves as the director of that school and resides in Clarksville, Tenn. with her family.
