Hall of Fame
One of the most outstanding wide receivers in the history of the Tiger football program, Sean Murphy '87 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1997.
Murphy was named as an All-American as a junior and a senior. During his career, he helped the Tigers make two NCAA Division II playoff appearances and win a pair of Lambert/Meadowlands awards as the top Division II team in the East. The Westfield, N.J. native finished his career as Towson’s all-time leading pass receiver. He caught 154 passes for 2,524 yards and 23 touchdowns, averaging 16.4 yards per reception.
A two-time All-ECAC selection, Murphy scored 28 touchdowns in his career. He set a then-school record as a junior when he caught 61 passes for 1128 yards and eight touchdowns. A former assistant football coach at Towson and McDaniel College, he also served as the head coach at Archbishop Curley High School.
