The top golfer in Towson’s Division II history, Tom Grem '80 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 2000.

He qualified for the NCAA Championship Meet two years in a row. He competed at the NCAA Championship Meet in Lakeland, Fla. as a junior and Davis, Calif. as a senior. He was honored as the Tigers’ Most Valuable Golfer twice in his career.

In 1977, he helped the team post a 15-4 record and win the Mason-Dixon Conference championship. In his junior season, he was the top performer for Towson’s second straight Mason-Dixon Conference championship team as the Tigers had a 15-3 mark. As a senior, he helped the Tigers post a 8-3 record in their final Division II season.

In three Mason-Dixon Conference Tournaments, Tom was one of the top finishers. He was Mason-Dixon runner-up in 1977, finished third in 1978 and placed seventh as a senior. He led the Tigers in scoring average twice in his career and had a 75.7 average as a senior.

In addition, he won the Pleasant Valley Open Tournament in 1977 and was the winner of the inaugural Maryland Open Match Play championship in 1977. In 1978, he was the regional first alternate for the 1978 United States Amateur tournament. He also won the Local and State regional qualifiers for the National Youth Golf Classic.

An associate member of the United States Golf Association (USGA), Tom has given many voluntary instructional sessions to help promote the game of golf.

He has also excelled as a professional bowler. He was a member of the National Tour from 1983 to 1985 and captured one regional title.

He has worked for Crown Central Petroleum for the last 15 years and served as the senior regional vice-president for the Baltimore-based corporation. He and his wife, Sandy, reside in Towson with their two sons, Jimmy and Douglas. Jimmy followed in his father's footsteps to play golf for Towson.
