Hall of Fame
A two-time selection as All-East Coast Conference, Ruth Gutridge Lavelle '86 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1999.
She was the ECC Player of the Year as a senior. She finished her career as the leading scorer in school history with 208 goals and 59 assists. As a sophomore, she set the school record for goals in a season with 60. She also set the school record for goals in a game (9) and assists (6) in a game.
Named as a Brine All-American in her senior season, she was also the winner of the Towson Female Athlete of the Year award.
Since graduation, she has been very active in the promotion of women’s lacrosse. A member of the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Chapter of the U.S. Lacrosse Association helped to start the National Junior Lacrosse Association, she was also the vice-president of the National Junior Lacrosse Association.
In 1988, she helped start the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association for Girls. She has coached many youth teams and run many camps and clinics.
The mother of three children, she resides in Baltimore with her family.
