The only NCAA national lacrosse record held by a Towson player up to 2016 was owned by Mark Goers who was a dominating force in the faceoff zone.

In 1994 Mark won 166 of 214 draws for a national best .778 winning percentage. He remains one of just two college players in NCAA history to win 75 per cent or more of his faceoffs in a single season.  Twenty-two years later that accomplishment still stands as the NCAA single season record for faceoff percentage. The feat earned him a spot on the All-American third team in his junior year.

Mark was one of two players in the history of college lacrosse to end a career having won at least 70 per cent of his draws after a minimum of 500 attempts.

With Mark showing the way the Tigers posted a deceiving 7-5 record in 1994 that included a final No. 10 National Ranking and a fifth NCAA Division I tournament berth. The Tigers lost three games by one goal to top 10 teams that season.

Other program records Mark set during his three-year career with Towson included the single game faceoff record of 21, most ground balls in a season with 127 and most career ground balls with 274.

After graduation Mark continued his involvement with the game. He served as an assistant coach to Carl Runk, helping the Tigers to a sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 1996. After a year assisting at his high school alma mater, he made his way back into the college ranks, joining the Ohio State staff.

In 2002 Mark took a position as an assistant coach at Navy and also served as the Academy’s Director of Physical Education Operations.
