Hall of Fame
The first female president of the Tiger Club (now Tiger Athletic Fund), Janet Houck Kines '80 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1995.
She has been a vital part of the Towson athletic program for over 30 years. During her undergraduate career, she was a key performer for the volleyball and lacrosse teams.
As a senior, she was the co-winner of the Female Athlete of the Year award after earning four letters in each sport. A Towson High School (Md.) graduate, she overcame knee surgery to have a fine college career.
For the Tiger volleyball team, Houck Kines helped the Tigers win the MAIAW state championship in 1979. A two-year co-captain for the lacrosse team, she was a first team all-state selection as a senior. In her final season, she helped the Tigers finished second nationally in the AIAW Tournament. Towson lost to Lafayette in the finals and she was named to the all-tournament team.
She resides in the Towson area with her husband, Dwight ’79. The couple has two children, Stephanie and Alan.
