Jen started swimming competitively at age five but it wasn’t until 13 years later that she began realizing her potential in the pool.

“I always knew I could do better,” she said, “but I wasn’t really dedicated in my age group swimming. There was no drive in me until I got to college.”

That’s when she shifted into high gear. Over her four years as a college swimmer she dominated the sprints and was subsequently showered with honors to become one of Towson’s most decorated student-athletes of all-time.

During her career Jen set school records in the 50 (22.75) and 100 (49.86) freestyle and 100 (55.11) butterfly. The two freestyle records remained the program’s best at the time of her induction. Set 13 years previously, both were the longest standing records among all of the Tigers’ swimming records.

Jen was Towson’s first individual Colonial Athletic Association champion when she won the 50-freestyle in her freshman year. She was the only CAA champion for Towson in her sophomore season, capturing both freestyle events at the conference championships. As a junior she won three of Towson’s four CAA titles, coming out on top in her three events. In her senior year she once again dominated the 50 and 100-freestyles. In 2003 and 2004 she earned ECAC meet titles as a freestyler. In 2005 she became the first female swimmer at Towson to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, swimming the 50 free, the 100 butterfly and the 100 free.

The CAA took notice of Jen immediately. In 2002 she was named CAA Rookie of the Year. In 2005 she was chosen CAA Swimmer of the Year. She was twice honored as the CAA Scholar-Athlete for Women’s Swimming. She was also named as the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2003 and the 2005 CAA championship meets. A 13-time CAA champion, Jen was one of three Tiger swimmers named to the conference’s 25th anniversary women’s swimming & diving team. In the history of CAA women’s swimming Jen remained the only four-time 50-free champion.

As a senior, she was honored as the co-winner of Towson’s Academic Achievement Award presented to TU’s most outstanding graduating scholar-athlete. She was also honored as the Female Athlete of the Year.
