Hall of Fame
A three-sport standout during his years at Towson, Larry Gross '69 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1990.
An All-Mason-Dixon Conference selection in lacrosse and wrestling, he was Towsonās Athlete of the Year in 1968. Upon graduation, he became the athletic director at Towson Catholic High School as well as an accomplished collegiate coach.
He coached wrestling at UMBC in 1973 and was the menās soccer coach at the University of Virginia from 1974-78. He also worked as the soccer coordinator of the menās and womenās soccer programs at North Carolina State University.
As the head coach of the womenās program, he led the Wolfpack to the national runner-up spot in 1988. That team earned him national Coach of the Year honors as the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) champions.
Gross led the Wolfpack womenās team to six consecutive NCAA playoff berths and top 20 finishes each year. He was published in the āJournal of Health, Physical Education and Recreation.ā He was also a PTA president as well as chairman of a local United Way.
