One of the finest two-sport athletes to play for the Tigers, Colleen Cahill-Smith '90 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 2003.

She was a four-year starter for both the field hockey and lacrosse teams. A native of Thorndale, Pa., Cahill-Smith was a field hockey co-captain as a senior. She led the team in scoring three years in a row. During her sophomore year, she had a team-high five goals with one assist. As a junior, she led the Tigers with three goals and three assists. Cahill-Smith enjoyed her best season as a senior as she scored eight goals and had five assists. With 17 goals and 11 assists in her college career, she graduated as Towson’s all-time leader in goals scored and points (45).

Cahill-Smith had an even bigger impact on the lacrosse program. Twice she was named All-East Coast Conference as a goalkeeper. As a senior, she led the Tigers to their first ECC championship and an 11-4 record. She was named the ECC Player of the Year and finished the season with a .678 save percentage. Cahill-Smith allowed just 5.0 goals per game as a senior and gave up just eight goals in two ECC Tournament games. The Tigers beat Lafayette in the semifinals, 6-5, and edged Delaware in the championship game, 4-3. In the finals, she made 11 saves and held the Blue Hens scoreless for the final 24:30 of the game.

During her career, Cahill-Smith had a .596 save percentage with 695 saves, allowing just 8.2 goals per game. Her career save percentage and single-season save percentage (.678 in 1990) were school records when she graduated.

A 1990 graduate with a degree in health, Cahill-Smith worked as a physical therapist assistant in Pennsylvania. She and her husband, Harold, have two children.
