Hall of Fame
One of the leading scorers in Towson soccer history, Ed McCue '92 was inducted into the Towson Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004.
He was a four-year starter for the Tigers who was named all-region three years in a row. A native of Alexandria, Va., McCue scored 38 goals and had 17 assists in his college career. He ranked as high as fourth on the Tigers’ career goal-scoring list and his 95 career points ranked him fifth.
During his four-year career, he helped the Tigers compile a 48-21-9 record and win three East Coast Conference (ECC) championships. In 1988, he led the Tigers with nine goals as a freshman. As a sophomore, he earned All-ECC honors as he helped the Tigers beat Drexel to win their first conference championship, 2-1. In his junior year, he was a repeat selection as All-ECC as Towson shared the ECC title with Drexel in a 1-1 tie. As a senior in 1991, he scored 14 goals and had nine assists as he captained the Tigers to a 14-4-3 overall record and their third straight ECC championship.
In addition to earning All-ECC and all-region honors for the third year in a row, he was named as the Most Valuable Player at the ECC Championship Tournament. In a 2-1 win over Rider in the championship game, he scored the game-tying goal and set up the winning goal.
After graduating from Towson, he was drafted by Kansas City of the Major Indoor Soccer League. He played one season with Kansas City and spent one season with the Baltimore Bays in an outdoor league.
