Towson’s membership in the Big South Conference lasted just three short years but the Tigers made the most of their stay, marking it with players like Connie Blades Randolph who rose to a leadership role in the volleyball program.
In their second Big South season Connie led the Tigers to a runner-up spot in the conference standings. In 1994 the Tigers won the Big South championship, earning their first ever NCAA Tournament berth, facing Appalachian State in the play-in round.
Connie was named to the Big South second team both of those years. She was also a conference All-tournament selection both years. In 1993 she was named the Big South Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
In her junior year Connie led the Big South with 1,338 assists while registering a team high 62 service aces that still tie her for seventh most in a single season at Towson. The following year she recorded a team high 1,275 assists.
Despite playing just three years at Towson after transferring from La Salle, Connie amassed 3,578 assists to place her second on the program’s all-time list. Her 192 career service aces rank her third.
A two-year team captain for the Tigers, her accomplishments were well-known on campus. She closed out her career at Towson by being named the Tigers’ Female Senior Athlete of the Year in 1995.
