Hall of Fame
One of the top gymnasts in Towson history, Teresa Arnold Yapps '82 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1994.
She finished her career as the Tigers’ all-time scoring leader with 1,311.85 points. A four-year standout for the Tigers, she was the first 1,000-point scorer in program history.
A native of Taneytown, Md. she was named as the Tigers’ Most Valuable Gymnast three years in a row. She also led Towson in scoring three straight years.
Arnold Yapps was honored as Towson’s Female Athlete of the Year twice. An outstanding student-athlete, she was the winner of the Souris Award as a junior, an honor that goes to the top junior school athlete at Towson. She graduated with honors and a degree in physical education.
As a junior, she helped the Tigers to an 11-3 record and a fourth-place finish at the EAIAW meet. The Tigers went 8-5 in her senior season and also finished fourth at the EAIAW meet. Arnold Yapps is still in the top 10 in Towson gymnastics history.
She owned and directed the Harford Gymnastic & Dance Training Center, which served over 800 children in Harford and Baltimore counties. She was a professional member of the U.S. Gymnastics Federation.
