A four-year starter for the Tiger volleyball team who enjoyed a record-setting career as a middle blocker, Debbie Lynn Basler '94 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 2006.
An All-East Coast Conference (ECC) pick as a junior, she set Towson University career records for blocks and service aces. As a freshman in 1989, she ranked eighth in NCAA Division I with 1.89 blocks per game. She set school records for blocks in a single season and block average and set a school record with 17 blocks against Delaware.
The Tigersā senior co-captain in 1992, she led the team in blocks for the fourth year in a row and ranked fifth in the Big South Conference, averaging 1.12 blocks per game. She was the Tigersā Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year. AĀ native of Oxon Hill, Maryland, she was honored as the Outstanding Senior for Physical Education in 1994.
A magna cum laude graduate of Towson University who earned a B.S. in physical education and teacher education, she received her masterās degree in school counseling from Loyola College. She has worked as a physical education teacher at Edgewood High School and the athletic director at Edgewood.
