Hall of Fame
One of the finest midfielders to play for the Tigers, John Como '81 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1999.
He was a four-year starter for the Tigers. He is also one of few college lacrosse players to earn All-American honors at the College Division and University Division levels. In 1979, he was named as a first team All-American as he led the Tigers to a number one national ranking in their final season as a NCAA Division II program.
In 1980, he became the Tigers’ first Division I All-American, earning honorable mention notice. The team captain of Towson’s first Division I team, he finished his career with 71 goals and 42 assists. He was also the winner of the James Saxon Scholarship in 1978.
A dean’s list student who graduated with honors, he also served as an assistant coach for the Tigers for one season. He earned All-Mason-Dixon Conference honors twice and led Towson to three NCAA Tournament berths in four years.
