One of the most respected coaches in lacrosse history, Dick Edell '67 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1980.

Edell is one of three former Tigers to be elected to the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame. At the time of his induction, Edell ranked fifth among NCAA Division I coaches with 282 career victories and ranked second all-time with 17 NCAA Division I Tournament appearances.

After playing at Towson for Coach Carl Runk, Edell served as head coach at the University of Baltimore (1973-76), Army (1977-83) and the University of Maryland (1984-2001).

A two-time USILA National Coach of the Year, Edell led the Terrapins to the NCAA Championship game in 1995, 1997, and 1998.

Edell has also been inducted into the US Lacrosse Potomac Chapter and University of Maryland Halls of Fame.
